Privacy Policy

We designed this app with your privacy in mind — from the ground up. It collects only the minimum data required to function and always respects your anonymity.

Short Summary

  • This app requires no account or login. Instead, it generates an anonymous ID on your device, which is used to communicate with the server — like a temporary, nameless account.
  • If you delete and reinstall the app, a new anonymous ID is generated.
    • There is no way to restore a previous ID or its data.
  • If the server doesn’t see any activity from your ID for [AAA] days, all related data is automatically deleted.
  • You can manually delete your ID and all related data at any time via the app menu.
  • Your location is never stored. The app uses your current location only to show nearby places. Only the location and name of places you select are transmitted and stored.
  • Anonymous analytics help us understand how the app is used — no tracking, profiling, or personal data.

1. Definitions

  1. The term “ID” refers to the unique identifier which is created on the first app start to distinguish this exact installation on the device.
  2. “Platform” refers to the entire system, including the mobile app and backend services.

3. What Data Is Collected

The app collects the following data, associated with your anonymous ID:

  1. A unique ID created on first use, used for communication with the server.
  2. Your Apple Push Notification (APN) token, so you can receive time-sensitive notifications (e.g. for group events).
  3. Data you enter when creating a “seed”:
    1. Activity type
    2. Selected place (name and coordinates)
    3. Time slots (availability)
  4. Reactions to events or moments, such as:
    1. Accepting or declining
    2. Canceling participation
    3. Check-in messages
    4. Anonymous, aggregated usage data may be stored long-term to improve the platform — without any connection to your ID.
  5. Anonymous usage data is collected using the analytics tool Matomo, including:
    1. Device type and operating system version
    2. App screen views and navigation patterns
    3. Time spent in the app
    4. General event usage (e.g., how often features are used)
    This data is collected without linking to your anonymous ID and does not allow identification of individual users.

4. How the Data Is Used

  1. Your submitted data is regularly processed on the server to match you with other users and notify you of possible group meetings (“moments”).
  2. The APN token is used solely to send you relevant push notifications.
  3. Anonymous usage analytics collected via Matomo is used to better understand how the app is used, improve the design, and prioritize features — without linking this data to user identities or IDs.

5. Data Deletion

  1. If the server detects no activity from your ID for [AAA] days, all associated data is automatically and permanently deleted within 7 days.
  2. You can manually delete your ID and all associated data at any time using the app’s menu.

6. Data Security Practices

  1. All communication between the app and the server is encrypted using modern, industry-standard cryptography (HTTPS/TLS).
  2. Stored data is protected by strict access controls and is never shared with third parties.
  3. Anonymous usage data is processed using the Matomo analytics platform, which we operate ourselves on servers hosted within the European Union.

7. Legal Basis for Processing

  1. Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR – to fulfill the core functionality of the app
  2. Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interest in running and improving the platform

8. Data Processing by Third Parties

  1. Servers of the platform are hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in Gunzenhausen, Germany.
  2. A data processing agreement (DPA) has been concluded according to Art. 28 GDPR.

9. Your Rights

  1. You have the right to:
    1. Request information about the data we hold
    2. Request correction or deletion
    3. Restrict or object to data processing

  3. You may opt out of anonymous usage analytics via the app settings at any time.

10. Right to Complain

  1. If you believe your data is being processed unlawfully, you have the right to file a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country.
